Sometimes only one tiny little nudge is all it takes to get a snowball rolling. And before you know it, it has turned into an avalanche that upsets everything you knew!
As I write this, I am sitting amongst moving boxes. My desk is littered with sheets of paper, waiting to be sorted out. Chaos everywhere. The Avalanche has found our home of twenty plus years and brought turmoil.
You know … I’ve always felt that I DON’T thrive in chaos!!! As a Virgo, I really like everything to be neat and tidy.
Or so I thought.
Honestly, this time I embrace the chaos, because I feel so strong that it is just a little hurdle to get to where I really want to be. Most of our stuff will be left behind anyway, so let’s not waste any energy on being disgruntled.
We’re moving to the beautiful North of Sweden! 2000 km away from our friends and family, to a country where we do not speak the language (yet!) and where the climate is alien to anything we have ever known. Speaking about a disruption.
How did it come this far? Like all great adventures, this one also started with a seemingly little thing.
In 2022 we went to Sauerland for a vacation in the mountains around Winterberg. A time of hiking and being in nature. Together with our two girls, we enjoyed the silence in the woods of Germany. Few other human beings around us, just trees and rocks and the sound of the wind rustling the leaves. It felt as if our souls finally found a home. Silence ….
And then we came back to Zutphen. The first thing that happened when we opened the door …. was a loud cry from somewhere deep within my soul: “I NEED MORE SPACE!!!”
The cry for space wasn’t about literal space though … Even if we were a family of four in a 80m2 two bedroom townhouse with a dog and a cat and a small garden. Seriously, Martijn & I have become the King and Queen of Tiny Living. We even managed to squeeze our recording studio into this place! We were happy in the house.
My cry for space was about Space to Roam. Space to find Stillness. Space in Nature.
The Netherlands is a very densely populated country. At the time of writing, we live together with about 18 million other souls on a tiny postmark of land. Over the years, it has become so crowded, that nowadays it is hard to hear yourself think. Even in nature, there are always other people around. Frankly, for us it has become the Introverts Nightmare.
So… we decided to listen to The Call and go on the journey to find ourselves more space. And, like it always does when you heed the Call, dozens of tiny coincidences conspire against what you think is Reality, to make IT happen. Even when you don’t know exactly what your own personal IT is.
Listening to The Call isn’t about receiving clear instructions. Yet, you always feel the message clearly. You can feel what the right decision is. You feel what is best for you. For example, you can feel when someone who isn’t around is thinking of you. The language of life does not use words, charts or graphs. No written chart to your destination. It comes from deep within. And all the little nudges you get, will eventually lead you to where you wanted to be in the first place.
Our personal IT turned out to be a farm in the North of Sweden, near the last true wilderness of Europe. A place where stillness and magic can be found everywhere. Beautiful contrasts in light and darkness are tangible. The air is clean and unsoiled water is in the lakes and streams. In endless woods and mountains we found space to breathe life again.
Here we find space to make music. We love to take you with us through our music, blogs, photo’s and video’s!
We are ready to go on the journey to find Stillness. You are welcome to join us!
